It's the Italian consumers who can be happy - cheese prices have been sliding in Italy. By about 6%. But it's catastrophic for cheese makers and milk producers!
The quarterly report of the ISMEA institute (www.ismea.it) indicates that the price of milk paid to producers is down around 5% since 2000 and the revenue from the major cheese categories has declined in the 3rd quarter:
- "young" Grana (12-15 months): -7%
- Mozarella from cows: -7% also
- Gorgonzola: -6%
- Parmiggiano Reggiano: -2.5%
They are not too happy on the other side of the Alps…

si è vero la crisi si sente e abbraccia tutti i settori anche
quelli della alimentazione che sono gli ultimi ad essere intaccati
